This is short sighted marketing and social media work. (Can I be clearer on this?)
Every author – and I mean every author – needs an author Facebook page as a way to create a reader base and as a way to talk to readers.
So if your objective is to write more than one book or one painting or one music bit or just more – then create a page where your readers/fans can hang out with you.
If you follow the advice that says create “project pages” then what happens to those readers when that project is done? They’re lost to you. Or you have to get them to sign up for another project page (which they may not be interested in). Make a centralized place where they can all hang out and meet others.
And no – do not allow readers to become friends on your own personal Facebook page. This isn’t because I want to be elitist or anything, it is because you want to have more than 5000 readers/fans and your personal account only goes that high. It may take you a few years to get there but when you do, you’ll thank me for separating your readers from your personal life.
I invite you to think long term on social media rather than short term projects.
